Human Geography Increasing Population And Agriculture
Human Geography: Increasing Population Agriculture Increasing human population and industrial agriculture go hand and hand. Currently, there are 7.4 billion people in the world and it continues to grow rapidly and the demand to meet the needs for our growing population remains to be an overwhelming task. Agriculture is the practice of farming, including cultivation of the soil for the growing of crops and the rearing of animals to provide food, wool, and other products. Deforestation is by-product of agriculture in which we must cut down trees for agriculture. We are losing our natural resources to meet the demands of the population. The pressure to meet the needs is contributing to global warming, animal extinctions and uprooting indigenous people from their homes. There are more than 70 billion land animals that are raised for human consumption each year. There are roughly 36 football fields of forest that are hacked, burned and destroyed every minute to meet the demands of our population. Indonesia was named the ââ¬Å"Fastest Forest Destroyerâ⬠in 2008 by the Guinness World Records book. In Indonesia, as their forest habitat is cleared, endangered species such as the orangutan, Borneo elephant and Sumatran tiger are being pushed closer to extinction. Smallholders and indigenous people who have inhabited and protected the forest for generations are often brutally driven from their land. In Indonesia, more than 700 land conflicts are related to the industrial agriculture. If we more deeply consider the effects of pollution, this should lead to changes in the environment by humans in their daily activiti es. These daily activities lead to an appearance of some results which are not beneficial for the surrounding plant and animal life, leading to a chaos in their natural way of living. Clearly, there are three main factors lead to pollution of the environment. Civilization sprung up as food harvesting and farming became more optimized and specialized. The procurement of food declined as the greatest usage of human time. His findings, while contradictory to some of the most respected academics of his time, helped create an entirely new way of thinking within the discipline (Sauer 1925). However, the influence of Sauerââ¬â¢s work extended well beyond the confines of any one discipline. He helped establish landscape studies in cultural geography and stronglyRead MoreEssay On Extreme Temperature764 Words à |à 4 PagesThis paper examined the association, instead of causality, of extreme climatic events on the net and the ou t population flows in communities in the NSW region of the MDB through Bayesian hierarchical spatio-temporal modelling. The datasets were obtained from different sources with misalignments in geographical locations and in time. This required an extensive amount of data preparation and modelling to create the dataset for the final analysis presented in this paper. Furthermore, we formally testedRead MoreEssay on The Effects of Global Climate Change1013 Words à |à 5 PagesEvery human activity is having a particular effect on our climate. This was noted by the world in 1992 in Rio de Janeiro when it was open for signature by the United Nations Framework on Climate Change. In the Climate Change Convention, the international community agreed to prevent and combat the effects of climate change such as those in agricultural areas, melting icecaps and the increase in sea level. In Isaac Asimovââ¬â¢s, ââ¬Å"The Case Against Manâ⬠, he elucidated the verity of overpopulation, emphasizing that the disproportion of earthââ¬â¢s carrying capacity and its resources will inevitably lead to humanityââ¬â¢s demise.
